Patrik Antonius and Tom "durrrr" Dwan confronted eachother at the virtual tables last night for the second "durrrr" Challenge session in the last 24 hours. Once again, Antonius dominated the action, booking a USD415,311 win over the course of 1,241 hands. The win completely erased the USD700,000+ lead Dwan built for himself in the challenge during their epic, 15-hour session back in mid-June, Antonius now up USD76,104 after 22,683 hands.
The two sat down to play at about 4:10 p.m. PST and finished up nearly four hours later. Within the first thirty minutes, Antonius was already up USD115,000 on Dwan, who continued to employ the more cautious strategy he debuted yesterday, even allowing his stack to fall below the required 75BB mark on several occasions. All told, Antonius won four of the session's five largest pots, all topping the USD150,000 mark.
When it came to those monsterpottens, four of them unfolded within a single twenty-minute period. First, Antonius flopped a seven-high straight against Dwan's set of fives on a 7♠5♦3♣ board, prompting a raising war on the flop that got Dwan's USD75,000+ stack in the middle. Dwan couldn't pair the board on the T♦ turn or the Q♠ river, Antonius raking in the USD150,156 pot. Only minutes later, another huge hand developed, Dwan opening for his standard USD1,200 from the button and Antonius making the call. The flop came down K♣9♠3♦, Antonius check-raising Dwan's USD2,000 bet to USD8,400. Dwan made the call and they saw the 8♠ fall on the turn. Antonius fired out USD17,200 and Dwan re-potted to USD70,800, effectively putting himself all in. Antonius reraised to USD124,400 and Dwan called the USD16,000 and change he had behind, revealing 7♣4♥3♣3♠ for bottom set while Antonius turned over K♠K♥Q♥4♣ for top set. The river was the T♦ and Antonius picked up the second-largest pot of the day at USD193,460.
By this point, Antonius was sporting USD200,000+ stacks on each of the four tables and was up well over half a million on Dwan, before he managed to stop the bleeding just a bit by winning the session's largest pot at over USD229,000. Dwan opened for USD1,200 from the button, Antonius three-bet to USD3,600, Dwan came back over the top for USD10,800, and not one to stop there, Antonius re-potted to USD25,200. Dwan called the five-bet and they went to the flop, which came down Q♣9♥2♣. Antonius led out for a pot-sized bet of USD61,200, Dwan shoved for his remaining USD78,779 and Antonius called, showing A♥A♣K♥2♦ for the overpair to Dwan's 9♠7♠5♠3♥ for top pair. Dwan caught a miracle on the turn, the 3♣ falling to give him nines and threes, and the 8♣ hit the river, earning him the USD229,558 pot.
Antonius quit the match about fifteen minutes later, citing that it was nearly 6:00 a.m. in Europe and he was dead tired. The two talked about getting in another session today.
