Casino Workers in Costa Rica Expect Huge Cutbacks
New casino regulations have been fixed by the Costa Rica government.  The decree will come into force in the following days, once it is published in the official newspaper.
Some of the new drastic requirements are: to operate in hotels with at least 60 rooms; not to have direct access from the street; not to serve alcoholic drinks to the players; to switch from twenty-four to eight hours per day operation.
According to the experts’ estimations, these requirements shall lead to massive cutbacks of around 3,000 employees in all 48 presently running casinos of Costa Rica.
Casinos will have six-month period to comply with the new requirements.  However, gambling industry representatives assume that, once the decree is published, it will be intensely criticized, and lots of amendments shall be proposed, despite the government stays firm declaring it is not willing to encourage gambling tourism in Costa Rica.
