| Grebbestad Case Finished, Sentence Announced |
The long-term case concerning an illegal poker tournament - the 2007 European Poker Challenge - has finally come to an end in Sweden. On March 23 police raided the tournament in the city of Grebbestad, Sweden, and shot it down. The Court ruled that the tournament contradicted the Swedish Lottery Law as it had not been arranged for private purposes and was available to the general public and online. There were six defendants - two of them were acquitted on all charges (the founder and former Chief Executive Officer for 24hPoker.com, Per Hildebrand and his colleague), two of them were sentenced to jail terms of six and eight months, and two other defendants got a fine.
