Spain Considers Importance of Gambling Benefits
Engracia Hidalgo, Finance Counsellor of Spain has revealed a report stating that private gaming sector in Madrid directly employs 9,500 locals and 22,000 locals indirectly. He also mentioned that figure played represents more than 2.5 per cent of regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Hidalgo stressed this kind of private business appears to be important for the state economy.
This was her answer to the regional assembly on the issue of legalization of betting organization and marketing in Madrid council. Five companies have applied for the authorization to the regional government for the organization and marketing of bets. Three of them, Sportium, Intralot Iberia and Codere Apuest have managed to obtain permission. She then went on to add that most probably Madrid citizens could be able to enjoy this gambling type online in the near future. The council said that Madrid is known for being the first ever autonomous community which regulates this new betting type while bringing legal safety to the citizens and companies who partake in this activity.
Hidalgo assured that the regional government had been doing its best to apply legal regulation to this very sector, protecting those not wishing to participate, same as users and business activities.
Madrid Council has also decided to update the norm for the purpose of reduction of paper work, giving more freedom to enterprisers and helping businessmen correspond with public demands, said Hidalgo.
