Corporación Mexicana de Entretenimiento (Mexican Corporation of Entertainment, CIE) is to pay a total of us$ 57,341,093 as a special tax on production and services (IEPS) in the segment of games and lotteries during this year, according to Jaime Zebada, Financial Director of the company. The us$ 57,341,093 tax is a percentage of the sales of games and lotteries and goes directly to the cost of the sales of the company, explained the executive. In 2007 the company was allowed to add 20 more units to its system of games and lotteries, comprised by 45 gambling venues. Jaime Zebada says during this year, the company will open units which investments will be between us$ 2.5 to 3 million, but also in those that will not require further payments. Since 1997 CIE has been growing in this activity; now the company’s main objective is to develop the customized concept, in which the needs will have to do with size and location, comments Zebada. In Mexico, the games and lotteries industry has a capacity equivalent to 30,000 electronic bingo machines by now, although several experts in the sector indicate that the activity will achieve its high level when it reaches a figure of 180,000 machines.
