| According to news sources Ballarat Magistrates Court sentenced Darrin Phillip Mortimer, 36, who had been working at the British Hotel at Creswick to eight months jail with four months suspended.
On April 26 and 27 in 2006 Mr Mortimer placed bets at the TAB and after making $1,400 of profit on the first day of gambling, he lost $10,000 on the second day.
In an attempt to cover up the gambling, Mr Mortimer made a false report to the police that he had been robbed.
According psychologist's report, Mortimer is suffering a pathological gambling problem and it’s not the first time he stole money. In 2000, he was also caught stealing almost $8,000 from an employer.
