| Having fought rough competition from Blackpool and the Millennium Dome in Greenwich to host a supercasino, Manchester is now witnessing the whole plan rejected by the Government. The project was beleived to provide £265 million investment in the region’s economy, not to mention 2,700 jobs. However the plan was turned down by the peers with only three votes, which has caused Manchester MPs to react with malice, of course.
The Government is now about to offer alternative regeneration packages, though. Culture Secretary Andy Burnham is also expected to confirm the idea of going ahead with 16 large regional casinos.
